Pulse and tongue according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

There are differences between a Chinese- and a Western medicine diagnosis . One difference is that the tongue is examined with respect to size, colour, shape, cracks, papillae and coating. This examination enables the therapist to get an idea of the body at the present as well as some time ago.

Another diagnostic method used is pulse taking. The pulse is examined both by counting heartbeats and by examining its complexion. The latter means that the therapist has learned how to feel and understand the pulse of different expressions based on yin and yang.

The therapist summarize the examination of the tongue and pulse together with the information of your medical history. From this information your individual  treatment plan is formed.
